Rebuilt from two Maneater match reports kept by the players.
The Tigers opened the 2007 season with a 36–15 win at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Vice president Ben Harrison said the tackling and the back line were solid and Northern Iowa simply could not break through; coach Matt Moore put it down to depth, with more than thirty-five players on the roster at every grade level. Backs captain Scott Smith picked off an interception and ran it about eighty meters, and three more scores came in the final twelve minutes. Mizzou were ranked 13th in Division Two at the time; Northern Iowa were a Division One side.
Later in the same fall came an 81–7 win over Missouri-Rolla. Senior wing Brian Bage said that with the contest one-sided the side used it to work on rucking, clean ball and quick passing, and that the b-side players had been impressive. Senior match secretary Will Rein called the camaraderie the strongest part of the team.
Nebraska, a Division I side, were two weeks out, Saint Louis University that Saturday, and the fall was to close with the Big 12 tournament hosted by the University of Oklahoma. The club had by then been invited for several years to move up to Division I, an option coach Moore said depended on funding and participation. The season before, 2006–07, the side had finished second at the West Collegiate Championships and beaten Missouri-Rolla, Washington University and Truman State.
